We were delighted to hear that Kate & Wills, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have personally selected Sub-Zero & Wolf appliances for the kitchen of their country home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate. By all accounts they had already installed Sub-Zero & Wolf in their London home, Kensington Palace, so they must be serious fans of the brands!
We understand that Kate & Wills decided on Wolf’s ICBDO30 E Series double wall oven with Wolf ICBWWD30 warming drawers, perfect for the large gatherings that will no doubt be taking place, once all works are complete and they are ready to receive guests.
Chef, food writer and Saturday Telegraph columnist Rose Prince was quoted by The Daily Mail as saying, “Kate faces the unusual predicament in that her country kitchen will often need to be used semi-professionally for large parties. No private chef likes to use an Aga – there’s not enough room on the hob or in the ovens and they can lose heat at a crucial moment. She’s sensibly going for modern, state of the art cooking appliances”.
Social commentator and author, Peter York was reported as saying of Kate & Wills appliance decisions, “It says we are modern and have global taste rather than sentimental English country taste. I think it’s a good sign that they want to live in the kitchen themselves. .All this Sub-Zero & Wolf stuff is global billionaire taste. I think you have a coming together of taste – modern rich people all lust after the same thing. And why not?”.
Hello Magazine also reported on Kate & Wills’ new Sub-Zero & Wolf kitchen, “According to reports, the Duke and Duchess have furnished it with high-end appliances by US brand, (Sub-Zero) & Wolf, a supplier favoured by professional chefs all over the world. A state-of-the- art oven, with a trademark cobalt blue interior costs around £18,000 and the couple have also invested in a huge American-style double fridge.”
The reported pricing might be a bit exaggerated for wall ovens but perhaps the Royal couple plumped for Wolf’s Dual Fuel Range which would be more in line with the amounts quoted.
Either way, we’re right royally pleased that Royal Highnesses, Kate & Wills are such big fans of Sub-Zero & Wolf appliances.
